About Us
World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day is Thursday, December 1, 2011! The international theme for this year's World AIDS Day is "Getting to Zero”. HAART is embracing this idea by holding a press conference at 9:30am on Thursday, December 1 at BREC's Baton Rouge Gallery in City Park. We invite you to join us in “getting to zero” as we bring awareness to our region, which is 2nd in the US for AIDS cases.
World AIDS Day is celebrated on December 1 each year around the world. It has become one of the most recognized international health days and a key opportunity to raise awareness, commemorate those who have passed on and celebrate victories such as increased access to treatment and prevention services. The international theme for World AIDS Day 2011 is "Getting to Zero”. HAART is embracing this idea by holding a press conference at 9:00am on Thursday, December 1 at BREC's Baton Rouge Gallery in City Park. We invite you to join us in “getting to zero” as we bring awareness to our region, which is 2nd in the US for AIDS cases. Timothy Young, Executive Director of HAART will make a brief presentation citing statistics and funding for HIV/AIDS in our community. He will also announce the Day’s events!
As part of the press conference, HAART will display entries from our 1st Annual Poster Contest! HAART, in collaboration with two graphic design classes from Baton Rouge Community College, gave students the opportunity to design a prevention and awareness poster for our agency. The posters will be available for viewing at the gallery from 8:00AM – 11:00AM on World AIDS Day. The winning poster will be the official HAART Prevention Poster for 2012!
