About Us
In 1989, facing an increased number of HIV/AIDS cases in the area, a task
force was formed by concerned citizens and representatives of the Office of
Public Health (OPH).   Its purpose was to define the extent of the disease in
the population, the affected subpopulation groups, and the need for services
to assist affected individuals and families.

From these early beginnings evolved the HIV/AIDS Alliance for Region Two,
Inc. (HAART), a non-profit community-based organization originally serving
only the seven parishes of the Office of Public Health's Region II area:
Ascension, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, West
Feliciana, Iberville and Pointe Coupee.  HAART provides needed services to
HIV+ persons throughout the state of Louisiana through a network of direct
service providers, collaborations with other agencies.  HAART also serves the
homeless HIV+ population with permanent housing and supportive services
by providing intense case management.  Additionally, we provide assistance
to those eligible individuals with co-payments and deductibles through our LA
Co-Payment and Deductible Assistance Program.
